NRI Get Voting Rights



Fulfillment of the long-standing demand of the diaspora, India Sunday said that it will allow NRIs -Non-resident Indians have to voting rights and will participate in election process." The Pursuant to law which was enacted to an enablement of Non-resident Indians right to vote in the national elections, the government of India has announced notifications for the registration of the overseas electors which comes under the act called Representation of People Act, 1950," the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh said.


 He said that the diaspora plays an vital role in the country's growth and development  and the government recognizes in it and it was committed to the address about their concerns and fulfillment of  their demands.

 "The government of India and people of India recognize their values and important role of  Indian communities whose living abroad. We have believed that the Indian diaspora has more to contributing to the building of the modern India," said by the prime minister.


   Vayalar Ravi ,the  Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs said that nearly 1,900 more delegates from the  60 countries were participates in annual conclave.
