Scarlet fever:

 

Health authorities of Hong Kong worried about epidemic scarlet fever due to death of 5 years old boy on Monday, the another child death suspect from disease in a month. The health authorities declared outbreak on Tuesday and express concerned scarlet fever bacterium has mutated into strain which appears to be resistant to the treatment of traditional antibiotic. Recorded 466 cases of scarlet fever infections so far this year in Hong Kong, which is high ever reported in the city. Most of the cases have been in children under the age of 10 is about more than 90%. The country has urged all kindergartens and primary schools affected by the outbreak will shut temporarily for precautionary measures.

 

Mode of transmission:

It is transmits either respiratory route or by direct contact with the infected respiratory secretions such sneezing, coughing etc.

Public are advised to prevent infection are follows,

* Maintenance of good personal hygiene and environmental hygiene;
* wash hands properly and keep hands clean;
* wash hands make must when dirtied by respiratory secretions (sneezing);
* maintain good ventilation in your house and workplaces.
